I have just realised that I have been running the family web page for over 11 years now which is extremely scary. It has been neglected for a couple of years since I ceased running the South East Toppers website and got heavily into genealogy. Much has changed with the internet since I started and I used to spend a lot of time on the Outlook Express Newsgroup: Microsoft.public.publisher.webdesign helping people make webpages in Microsoft Publisher 97. Practically everyone now has access to the internet and knows how to use a search engine so long lists of links have become unnecessary. I have taken the music away as many folk listen to their own music while they surf and some personal information has gone as internet stalkers have invented themselves. The world wide web wayback machine can transport you back to what we were up to at Christmas 1999!!! |

We heard the shocking news that one of Laura’s ex Hillingdon Borough Swimming teamates Emily Sadler had been killed in the coach crash in Ecuador—our deepest sympathies go out to Emily’s family. |

We have now realised that by an astonishing coincidence one of Andy’s Topper and 29er sailing friends, Sarah Martin was in the Ecuador crash too, we are glad to say that Sarah is now safely home with her parents. |

Janet Kinrade Dethick has published The History of The Dethick Family of Dethick 1200-1918. I am descended from the Dethicks on the distaff side via William Dethick born 1781 in Rocester, Derby. William is a butcher in Blurton in the Staffordshire Directories. |

I have been following the World Snooker Championships over the past few days fascinating to see old stager Steven Hendry getting back into form and the emergence of Liang Wenbo, my favourite mark Selby got knocked out in the 1st round. Our Peer Review group met up at Monty’s the staff made no hints to move us on though we were there for 4 hours! I also made a trip to the British Library Newspaper Collection at Colindale, the integrated catalogue newspaper subset search engine is not the most convenient to use or find! I did find mention of my grandfathers wounding however in the Aberdeen People’s Journal:-
